From Deep Tech Concept → Investor-Ready Story

Turning a Complex Idea Into an Investable Company

HomeSphere.ai founders Gary Gayle and Dr. Shevon Howard developed a sophisticated autonomous AI system for residential spaces. However, ahead of a critical $1.5M–$2.0M seed round, they ran into a positioning problem - investors frequently mistook the technology for a basic kitchen gadget, overlooking the fact that it was a fully autonomous AI engine.. They had just five weeks to overhaul their pitch before presenting to investors.

The refinement, cohesion, and confidence Product on Point brought to our story exceeded expectations.

Client Engagement Model

HomeSphere.AI is building a new category of home intelligence with its Smart-I-Shelf™. A system that transforms the kitchen from a passive storage space into an autonomous, decision-making environment. By combining weight and vision sensing with a network of intelligent agents, the platform tracks food in real time, predicts needs, and takes action. Like reducing waste or restocking essentials without requiring any manual input. Designed for modern, time-strapped households, HomeSphere shifts the home from reactive to proactive, removing the mental load of everyday living while creating a scalable platform for the future of connected appliances.

We worked directly with the leadership team to nail down their core story, mapping out the main investor presentations alongside supporting materials like their elevator pitch.

  • Kickoff: We began by collaborating with CEO Gary Gayle and COO Dr. Shevon Howard to define the scope and core narrative for their investor presentations, as well as supporting materials like their elevator pitch.

  • Weekly Iterations: We worked in weekly cycles to build, review, and finalize the materials, ensuring steady progress and a quick feedback loop.

Week Kickoff

Alignment on the weekly plan and specific goals for the period.

Week Review

Shared our progress with the Homesphere.ai leadership team to gather immediate feedback.

Adjustments

Applied that feedback directly to the next week’s tasks to keep the project moving forward smoothly.

To keep things completely transparent, we shared weekly updates tracking our progress. We also held all-hands calls every week where the entire team could jump in and workshop the research, graphics, and visuals together. Thanks to this open communication, we hit our five-week target right on schedule.

Challenges + Objectives

HomeSphere developed a multi-agent AI platform, but because their first deployment was a refrigerator shelf, investors labeled them as a "Consumer IoT" gadget and were compared to smart fridges and barcode apps.

The Strategic Shift
To fix this, we stopped explaining what the hardware does and started focusing on how the architecture scales. We reframed the "Smart-I-Shelf" from a simple grocery sensor into a real-time state engine, mapping their technology into a clear, three-part investor narrative:

  • Highly technical product that was difficult to explain simply

  • Multi-layered system (hardware + AI + agents) created complexity in storytelling

  • Risk of being perceived as a “smart gadget” vs. a new category

  • No clear, unified narrative across materials

  • Investor value not immediately obvious

Focus Areas

  • Simplify the product into a clear, compelling story

  • Translate deep tech into human, relatable value

  • Define a differentiated category and positioning

  • Create a cohesive, investor-ready narrative system

The Work

The Seed-Ready Toolkit: From Concept to Investable Asset

Product on Point partnered with HomeSphereAI to translate a complex, multi-layered product into a clear, compelling, and investor-ready narrative. To secure a $1.5M - $2.0M Seed Raise, we didn't just design a product; we engineered a complete investable narrative. Our work focused on reducing "investor friction" by making the high-tech R.E.T.N.A™ protocol feel as simple as a household utility. We developed a complete storytelling system, moving from foundational positioning and category definition to a full suite of pitch materials, including elevator, demo-day, and long-form investor narratives.

Our work extended across investor one-pagers, executive summaries, and market positioning documents, alongside a cohesive visual storytelling approach that made abstract technology tangible and easy to understand. Every asset was designed to work together, creating a consistent, scalable narrative that could confidently communicate the product, the opportunity, and the vision at every stage of growth.

The Seed-Ready Toolkit:

From Concept to Investable Asset

  • The "Ecosystem" One-Pagers

The "Missing Piece" Strategy: We created a "Web of Food" visual to show Angels how HomeSphere sits in the center of giants like Amazon, Instacart, and Samsung.

    ———

Vertical Expansion: We proved the "Scalability" of the seed investment by showing how the same shelf tech moves from the kitchen to Elder Care and Medicine Cabinets (Life Safety).

  • The OEM Strategy

Partnership Deck: We drafted a strategic roadmap for Tier 1 Appliance brands, positioning the Smart-I-Shelf™ as a low-risk way for them to add "true intelligence" to their hardware.

    ———

White-Label Narrative: We showed investors that ValueIO isn't just a hardware company; it's a High-Margin IP Licensing play.

  • The "Emotional ROI" Investor Deck

The "So What?" Factor: We centered the deck on the 100+ hours of time-recapture and $1,500 in annual savings for the "Modern Family" persona.

    ———

The "Aha!" Moment: We used "Before vs. After" storytelling to show the shift from a "Reactive Home" (mental load/stress) to a "Governed Autonomous Home" (peace of mind).

    ———

Founder-Market Fit: We highlighted the HomeSphere OS as the "Invisible Manager" that works for the user, not another screen they have to manage.

  • The Elevator Pitch Film

We produced a high-impact short film that didn't talk about "Weight-Vision Fusion," but instead showed the relief of a parent coming home to a kitchen that had already solved the "What's for dinner?" problem.

  • The "Due-Diligence Ready" Extended Pitch

For the deep-dive phase of the Seed round, we developed an exhaustive technical and financial appendix to survive rigorous Angel scrutiny. This shifted the conversation from a "cool gadget" to a defensible infrastructure play.

    ———

Competitive X/Y Positioning Map: We built a data-backed grid that clearly separated the platform from "Manual" legacy competitors like Samsung, LG, and Instacart.

    ———

The Data Moat: We detailed the proprietary Weight-Vision Fusion IP, explaining how "Observed Consumption" data creates a secondary B2B revenue stream by providing the high-fidelity insights that CPG brands currently spend billions to estimate.

    ———

R.E.T.N.A™ Protocol White Paper: We provided a detailed breakdown of the dispatch_trace protocol, proving that every AI decision is 100% private and human-explainable, which is a critical requirement for scaling into regulated verticals like healthcare.

    ———

Vertical Expansion Roadmap: We included a strategic "Land and Expand" plan showing how the core inventory layer scales immediately from food waste into Life Safety (Elder Care) and medicine cabinets, significantly increasing the long-term TAM.
